More than 100 Jewish institutions across Canada received bomb threats via email on Wednesday morning, prompting widespread concern and police investigations. The threats targeted synagogues and various Jewish organizations throughout the country.

Key details:

- The threats were sent by email early Wednesday morning.

- Congregation Adath Israel Poale Zedek Anshei Ozeroff in Hampstead, Montreal, received a threat around 5 am local time.

- Police searched the synagogue but found no explosives.

- Authorities are investigating the threats as hate crimes.

B'nai Brith, one of the targeted organizations, issued a statement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying, "This is not just an attack on our safety — it's an attack on the fabric of Canadian society." The organization expressed concern that recent anti-Semitic incidents have "emboldened haters."

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded swiftly, stating, "I'm disgusted at reports that more than 100 Jewish institutions across Canada were targeted by threats today. This is blatant antisemitism." Trudeau added that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is coordinating with local law enforcement to investigate and ensure the safety of Jewish Canadians.

The incident underscores ongoing concerns about rising anti-Semitism in Canada and the security challenges faced by religious institutions. As investigations continue, Jewish communities across the country remain on high alert.
