The Knesset postponed the election of the Chief Rabbis and extended their tenure, now the rabbis have reached agreements on work schedules until the next election date

The Knesset postponed the election of the Chief Rabbis, and their tenure was extended, this is the division of labor they agreed upon.

Following the Knesset's decision to postpone the election of the Chief Rabbis and in accordance with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel Law, the Chief Rabbis were required to reach agreements and divide their renewed responsibilities until the upcoming elections.

The Chief Rabbis of Israel reached an agreement, and their roles were updated as follows: Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, will serve as the President of the Great Rabbinical Court from 17th of Av 5783 (4th of August 2023) until 24th of Kislev 5784 (7th of December 2023).

From the 17th of Av 5783 (4th of August 2023) until the 24th of Kislev 5784 (7th of December 2023), Rabbi David Lau, Shlita, will serve as the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel in the position of President of the Chief Rabbinate Council.

Starting from the 25th of Kislev 5784 (8th of December 2023), Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, will serve as the President of the Chief Rabbinate Council, and Rabbi David Lau, Shlita, will be the President of the Great Rabbinical Court, and this arrangement will continue until the end of their tenures.
