Inciting hatred
She called zionists "nazis" — now an Argentine court is prosecuting her for hate speech
Deputy Vanina Biasi indicted for antisemitic rhetoric; judge freezes assets, and a trial is set to determine her fate, potentially impacting her career and reputation.

Argentina's national deputy Vanina Biasi, from the Workers' Party, was formally prosecuted for antisemitism and violating the country's Anti-Discrimination Law 23.592 on Monday.
This decision follows a series of social media posts between November 2023 and January 2024, in which she referred to Israelis as "Zionist Nazis" and accused Israel of committing genocide.
As part of the legal proceedings, a 10 million peso lien was placed on Biasi’s assets. If convicted of inciting hatred or promoting discriminatory propaganda under Law 23.592, Biasi could face a prison sentence ranging from one month to three years.
In her posts, Biasi referred to the "Zionist state" as "Nazi," comparing its practices and ideology to genocide and apartheid. She also accused the "Zionist narrative" of distorting facts to justify actions. Biasi made statements such as, “I understand that a propagandist of a terrorist, genocidal, and child-killing state would be upset to read this, but their bullying will not silence me."
She also dismissed the emotional distress of a father searching for his daughter following the October 7 Hamas attack, calling it part of a "Zionist narrative."
Judge Daniel Rafecas stated that Biasi’s remarks exceeded the acceptable limits of free speech and incited persecution and hatred toward the Jewish community, violating Argentina's core principles of equality and non-discrimination.
Rafecas further emphasized the potential negative impact of such rhetoric in Argentina, a nation that has suffered from two major attacks against the Jewish community - the bombings of the Israeli Embassy and the AMIA headquarters.
