Veteran political commentator for Channel 12 News, Amnon Abramovich, wrote an opinion column titled: "Ben Gvir may succeed where Sinwar failed," and was immediately blasted by followers online.
In the column, he refers to the restrictions that Minister of National Security Ben Gvir proposed to impose on Israeli Arabs regarding the ascent to the Temple Mount on Ramadan. "Israeli Arabs were murdered and kidnapped on October 7th. Israeli Arabs fought bravely, were killed and wounded. When the war broke out, Ben Gvir warned against (repeated attacks and provocations by Israeli-Arabs)," he writes.
"His warning (or was it his hope?) did not come to fruition. Many Arab citizens have condemned Hamas. Most of them participate in the civil effort - they are doctors, nurses, agricultural workers, manual laborers."
"Those who understand the situation are afraid that Ben Gvir will succeed where Yahya Sinwar has failed," Abramovich continues, "to unify the (anti-Israel forces using the Temple Mount as a pretext). In documents seized from Hamas headquarters, it is stated that his provocations were one of the reasons for the October 7 attack."
It is worth mentioning that on the eve of Operation "Guardian of the Walls" in May 2021, Ben Gvir established an office in the Eastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah (Shimon Hatzadik). "Get out of Sheikh Jarrah immediately," Netanyahu warned him. "If you don't leave immediately, Hamas will fire missiles at Jerusalem!"
