As the hostage crisis in Gaza drags on, new evidence has surfaced confirming that only 24 of the 59 remaining hostages are still alive. Videos released by Hamas and testimonies from freed captives have provided rare and fragile signs of life, offering both hope and anguish to families waiting for their loved ones.

In recent weeks, against the backdrop of the release of the hostages in the first stage of the deal, many signs of life have been received about additional hostages who are still in captivity and were not included in the deal.

Two of the hostages who were given a particularly cruel sign of life, just this week, are Evyatar David and Guy Gilboa Dalal. As you may recall, Hamas released a video of them, in which they are seen watching their friends released from captivity last Saturday.

Ynet has listed the names of other hostages who received a sign of life in recent weeks. Matan Tsungoker and Idan Alexander have appeared in videos released by Hamas in recent weeks.

Regarding the remaining hostages, the sign of life received was given by other hostages who returned in the deal. We thus have received life signals from Alon Ohel, Elkana Bohbot, Nimrod Cohen, Ziv and Gali Berman, David Cuneo, Segev Kalfon, Yosef Haim Ohana, Eitan Mor and Matan Angerst. Yair Horn, who returned from captivity in the current deal, passed on a sign of life from his brother Eitan Horn, who was still left behind.

The first stage of the kidnapping deal has not yet been completed. This coming Saturday, according to the agreement, Hamas is expected to return four murdered hostages – Shlomo Mansour, Itzik Elgart, Ohad Yahalomi and Tzachi Idan.

If this phase is carried out as planned, 59 hostages will remain in captivity, 35 of whom we have already received information that they are not alive. Only 24 hostages are considered alive.
