Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the Houthi movement in Yemen, has issued a direct threat of military intervention against the United States if President Donald Trump's controversial plan for Gaza is put into action. Al-Houthi, speaking publicly on the matter, claimed that his group would see military action as a "jihadist duty" to prevent the implementation of what he referred to as an unjust plan. The Houthis, a Shiite rebel group backed by Iran, have been involved in multiple regional conflicts in recent years, and this threat marks a significant escalation in their position regarding U.S. involvement in the Middle East.

Al-Houthi made it clear that the Houthis would not remain passive if Trump's plan for Gaza were enacted. He declared that they would utilize all available means at their disposal to prevent its success, framing their potential intervention as a moral and religious obligation. "We will act out of our jihadist duty, we will not stand by," al-Houthi emphasized, signaling his group's readiness to escalate their activities if the situation in Gaza unfolds as outlined by the U.S.

This statement comes amid rising tensions in the region, with the Houthis increasing their activities in the Red Sea and launching missiles toward neighboring countries. Their threats are part of a larger pattern of growing unrest in the Middle East, particularly surrounding the U.S.'s policies regarding Gaza and its ongoing involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Houthis' relationship with Iran has made them a key player in regional geopolitics, adding to the complexity of any diplomatic efforts in the area.

Al-Houthi’s remarks also underscore the broader divide in the Middle East regarding the U.S.’s involvement in the region and the growing influence of groups like the Houthis. As the conflict in Gaza continues to evolve, the threat of external military intervention by groups like the Houthis only adds to the uncertainty surrounding the situation.
