UNRWA and terrorism go hand in hand
Israel's Gideon Sa'ar Slams UNRWA in Press Conference with Italian Deputy Prime Minister Tajani – What’s Next for Gaza?
During a recent press conference, Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Sa’ar, expressed his gratitude and outlined Israel’s firm stance on the ongoing conflict, particularly regarding the Hamas-led violence.

Speaking alongside Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, Sa’ar reiterated the importance of strong international partnerships, especially in light of recent events in Gaza.
"Israel and Italy are pillars of stability and strength," Sa’ar said. He acknowledged Italy's significant role in Europe and on the global stage, as well as Israel’s vital position in the Middle East, an area known for its instability.
Reflecting on the October 7 massacre by Hamas, Sa’ar outlined Israel's objectives moving forward. These include dismantling Hamas’ military and governing capabilities, securing the release of all hostages, and ensuring the safety and security of Israel's citizens. Sa’ar stressed that while war is never the goal, Israel will not back down from these objectives. "We will not compromise on our objectives," he affirmed.
The Foreign Minister also made it clear that Israel would not accept Hamas' rule in Gaza. “As long as Hamas is in power, there will be no peace, no security, and no stability in this region,” Sa’ar stated. He pointed out that despite Hamas’ rhetoric, which continues to call for more attacks against Israel, the government remains committed to securing a peaceful future for its citizens while also upholding international law, especially in terms of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
However, Sa’ar made it clear that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) would not be a part of the solution in Gaza. "UNRWA is part of the problem," he declared, citing its failure to combat terror activities within its ranks and its association with Hamas. He also highlighted the involvement of UNRWA employees in the October 7 attack and the fact that Israeli-British hostage Emily Damari was held in one of their facilities.
Sa’ar emphasized that Israel’s position is widely supported within the country, including by both the coalition and opposition. “After October 7th, there is a wide consensus in Israel – terrorism will not be tolerated anymore,” he added.
In his concluding remarks, Sa’ar thanked Tajani for Italy's leadership and support, particularly in the "Food for Gaza" initiative. He also discussed the failed experiments of Gaza under various sovereignties, including Egyptian rule, the Palestinian Authority, and Hamas, asserting that Gaza, as it currently stands, has no future. He called for a new approach to the situation, one that could pave the way for a better future for both Israel and the broader Middle East.
"Grazie mille! Thank you!" Sa’ar concluded, expressing his appreciation for Italy's ongoing support and engagement.
