The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the IDF have thwarted a planned suicide bombing attack on a bus in Jerusalem, the two agencies announced on Thursday.

The terrorist cell behind the plot consisted of operatives from both Fatah and Hamas, originating from the Ramallah area. Security forces arrested the group between November and December 2024.

According to the Shin Bet, the cell members were identified as Ahmed Jasser Ali, Mander Sheikh Kassem, Bashir Awad, Ammar Subah, and Ali Shwiki. Investigations revealed that the group intended to detonate an explosive device remotely, smuggling it into Israeli territory for the attack.

Ali, along with other members, was responsible for constructing the bomb and planning the suicide mission. Additionally, some of the operatives had previously carried out shooting attacks against IDF soldiers in the West Bank over the past year.

Recently, an indictment was filed against the suspects, charging them with membership in an illegal organization, possession of weapons, and manufacturing explosives.
