Several dozen demonstrators are gathered this morning (Thursday) at the entrance to the city of Jerusalem near the Chords Bridge, demonstrating against the hostage deal about to go into effect.

Bereaved families from the Heroism Forum spent last night in front of the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem, calling for a halt to the deal with Hamas.

The chairman of the Heroism Forum, Yehoshua Shani, the father of Captain Uri Shani, who fell in the war in Gaza, was in front of the Prime Minister's Office tonight with other families

This morning, he called outside the Prime Minister's Office to come and join their protest, while appealing to the ministers to oppose the deal and block it.

The decision to sleep in front of the Prime Minister's Office was made at the last minute. Police forces arrived at the scene, announced to the demonstrators that this was an illegal gathering and even threatened to forcibly evict them.

The event began with an emergency conference at the Heroism Camp, after which the bereaved families marched to the Rose Garden – and set up their sleeping tents. The forum invited the public to join stating: "The State of Israel is in danger! No to a deal that would abandon Israel's security! No to abandoning the hostages! Tonight we are sleeping in front of the Prime Minister's Office."

Yehoshua Shani said: "This is a national emergency. The deal that is signed at these moments will bring us disaster. It leaves 70 hostages behind and endangers the nation's security. Tonight we will sleep near the Prime Minister's Office, calling at the last minute to stop the deal. If the prime minister does not stop it, we call on the cabinet ministers, who have a national responsibility, to stop this dangerous deal at the last minute. We want all the hostages and our hearts are with the families, but it cannot be in a way that will abandon the hostages and put the people of Israel in serious danger. Come join us tonight, come and save the nation."
