Israel Denies Claims of Hostage Deal with Hamas as Goodwill Gesture for Trump

All for Donald Trump? PMO denies report on 'limited' Hostage deal between Israel and Hamas

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has firmly rejected a Channel 12 report suggesting that Israel and Hamas are working on a "limited" hostage deal as a goodwill gesture ahead of the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.

The report claimed that both sides were interested in striking a smaller agreement before Trump takes office, though it provided no further details, stating that they were not authorized for publication, according to times of Israel reports.

In response, the PMO issued a brief but strong statement, labelling the report as "a complete lie."

The story has also been denied by a senior Arab diplomat, who spoke to The Times of Israel, further discrediting the Channel 12 claim.

Meanwhile, John Kirby, spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council, addressed the ongoing negotiations for the release of hostages. According to Kirby, Hamas remains the main obstacle to finalizing any deal. He acknowledged that while the negotiations are progressing, obstacles raised by Hamas have hindered their completion. "As we move closer to what we believe is the end of the negotiations, more detailed discussions take place, and that's where it gets harder," Kirby said. "Because Hamas has raised obstacles or refused to engage in the details, we are still not at a conclusion."

The situation continues to unfold as both sides navigate the complexities of the negotiations.
