Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Syrian side of Mount Hermon today (Tuesday) where he conducted a security assessment with Defense Minister Israel Katz, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar, and Northern Command Commander Ori Gordon.
At the end of the assessment and after congratulating IDF troops for their work in securing vital territory and eliminating threats to Israel across the border, Netanyahu said that the meeting was meant "to decide on Israel's deployment in this important location until another arrangement is found which ensures Israel's security."
He then went on to say that the Hermon's importance as a strategic location has only been increased in recent years, especially in the past few weeks with the dramatic and sudden collapse of the Assad regime in Syria.
He ended by saying that "we will determine the best arrangement, which will ensure our future."
