Hamas officially announced today (Thursday) that "we have informed the Egyptians that we agree to their proposal regarding the establishment of a 'social support committee' to run the Gaza Strip, as part of Palestinian national agreement and an end to the division (with the Fatah)."

Egypt has been working on a new plan to ensure an end to the war and the release of the hostages for the past few weeks. To that end, it hosted delegations of Hamas and Fatah in Cairo to work out an arrangement for running the Gaza Strip once the war ends.

Meanwhile, the cabinet is set to meet to tonight to decide on whether the conditions have ripened to send a delegation from Israel to Cairo to reopen hostage negotiations.
