Iranian popular anger over fuel shortages is increasing, and not made easier by government claims that the shortages are due to Iranian civilian overconsumption, according to Iran International.

Iran, which spends enormous amounts of money arming proxies around the world and developing a nuclear weapons program, leading to harsh sanctions and a budget deficit. The country also reportedly tries to bypass sanctions by exporting much needed fuel to other countries, especially China.

Iran International also said that the country, one of the members of the OPEC cartel, is suffering from "power outages, unreliable energy supplies, and skyrocketing living costs."
