Most severely wounded soldier from October 7, Yona Bezalel Brief succumbs to his injuries

Brief, HY"D, critically wounded in battles with Hamas terrorists in Kfar Aza on October 7, died of his wounds at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.

At Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, Yona Bezalel Brief, a soldier in the Duvdevan unit, who was critically wounded in the battles in Kfar Aza on October 7, died on Tuesday.

Brief was hospitalized for more than a year. In the past 24 hours, there had been a severe deterioration in his health and he passed away.

His family planned to hold a public prayer for his recovery at the Western Wall in Jerusalem this evening.

Brief was seriously wounded about five months before the Hamas attack during an operational activity in Tulkarm. After his rehabilitation, he decided not to give up his continued service in Duvdevan and returned to the unit.

On the morning of Simchat Torah he jumped together with other fighters to the village of Gaza and took part in fierce battles and the elimination of dozens of Hamas terrorists. During the battles, he was critically wounded.
