1,001 days after Russia invaded his country, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told Fox News on Wednesday that Israel made a mistake by not providing Kyiv with military aid early in the war.

"I think Israel made a mistake on the political level. Not on the civil level – we have very good relations with Israeli society," the Jewish president said. "When the full-scale invasion began, I asked Israel's leaders to help and support us – but they were afraid of Putin. That's my opinion, and I've also talked about it with leaders in Europe and with the United States. I asked them to help us ask for support from Israel and get air defense systems."

Nevertheless, Zelensky also acknowledged in the interview that the Israeli strikes against Iran's missile production facilities were "a good thing for Ukraine, which definitely helped us."

In the interview, the president also addressed concerns in Europe that the Trump administration would end U.S. support for Ukraine, warning that his country would lose the war if Washington did so. "If they cut the budget, we will lose," he warned. "It would be very dangerous if we lost unity in Europe, but most importantly, unity between Ukraine and the United States."
