Hezbollah shoots down Israeli drone using anti-aircraft missile

Lebanese media is reporting the downing of an Israeli Hermes 450 UAV by an anti-aircraft missile. Earlier today, the Iron Dome intercepted a surface-to-air missile in the Jezreel Valley.

Media outlets in Lebanon are claiming that Hezbollah managed to shoot down an Israeli aircraft using an air defense missile. According to the reports, this is a relatively large aircraft - of the Hermes 450 type.

In recent years, terrorist organizations have fired anti-aircraft missiles at Israeli aircraft, but the hit percentages are low and this is the first time an aircraft has been shot down in the current war.

Earlier today, Hezbollah fired a surface-to-air missile into the skies of the Lower Galilee. The David's Sling air defense system intercepted the missile in the Jezreel Valley area about 50 kilometers from the border. There were no casualties in the incident.

The IDF stated: "Air Defenses intercepted a surface-to-air missile launched at a remotely manned aircraft of the Air Force that was operating in the skies of Lebanon using the "David's Sling" system. A warning of rocket and missile fire was activated in the Alon Tavor power station area following the launch. There were no casualties.

After a short time, another missile was launched at the aircraft, this time hitting its target. As a result, the UAV fell in Lebanese territory. The IDF will continue to defend the State of Israel and continue operating in the skies above Lebanon against the Hezbollah terrorist organization."
