The attack took place yesterday (Wednesday) on Or Hahaim Street, and police are looking into whether the suspect, believed to be Jewish, targeted the woman because he thought she was a Christian.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing the assailant shout "Christian" while inside the victim's home, raising suspicions about the assailant’s motivations. The victim, a woman in her 50s, was left with injuries to her upper body. Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics quickly responded to the scene, where they provided medical treatment to the woman, who was conscious but in pain.

MDA Senior EMT Yossi Kasuto recalled the scene, stating, "I was dispatched by the MDA control center to my neighbor's home. I quickly arrived at the scene and saw a woman around 50 years old, fully conscious, lying with injuries to her upper body." He added that he administered life-saving treatment and helped evacuate the victim through narrow alleyways in an all-terrain vehicle. The woman was then transferred to a mobile intensive care unit (MICU) near Zion Gate, where her condition was reported as moderate and stable.

Meanwhile, the police and Border Police Forces cordoned off the area, while forensic teams gathered evidence. Investigators are focusing on whether the assailant, who remains unidentified, was influenced by mistaken identity and may have targeted the woman based on her perceived religious affiliation.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the exact motives behind this shocking attack in the heart of Jerusalem's historic Old City.
