A serious indictment was filed this morning (Monday) against a 39-year-old resident of Beit She'an on suspicion of strangling his wife to death a few hours before they were supposed to get divorced.
On 10/11/24, a report was received at the 100 hotline of the Israel Police regarding an incident in which the death of the deceased, Sigalit Elbaz, was pronounced after she was found lifeless in her home in the city of Beit She'an.
From the investigation material, it emerged that the suspect called the emergency hotline and claimed that his wife was not feeling well and was gasping, and he began performing resuscitation actions under the guidance of the medical center. However, the rescue forces and the police officers who arrived at the scene noticed suspicious signs indicating that the deceased had died earlier and not within the time frame in which the suspect called the emergency hotline.
Police forces, accompanied by forensic investigators from the northern district, were dispatched to the scene. After examining the evidence on-site, it was decided to send the deceased's body to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, and simultaneously, her husband was arrested on suspicion of committing the murder.
During the examination of the deceased's body at the forensic medicine institute, it was determined that the cause of death was strangulation by applying pressure to the neck and blocking her airways, which led to her death. As the investigation progressed, it emerged that the victim and her partner were supposed to divorce a few hours after the murder, this comes after they married at the graves of the righteous in northern Israel a few months earlier.
As mentioned, following a complex investigation conducted by the Crime Fighting Unit in the Jezreel Valley, a serious indictment will be filed this morning against the accused, a 39-year-old resident of the city of Beit She'an, in the District Court in Nazareth through the Northern District Attorney's Office.
