According to data from the Israel Women's Network, the latest murder raises the total number of women, killed from domestic violence in Israel, to 15 since the start of the year.
Women's rights advocates have expressed worries recently that alterations in critical areas of government policy will affect the safety of women. Specifically, they criticized National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's choice in February to stop funding the security aid given for women in danger of domestic violence, a program run by the Michal Sela Forum.
Moreover, they cautioned that the easing of firearm regulations could worsen the violence experienced by women, especially those in unsafe or violent living environments.
