A man has been arrested in Jerusalem for poisoning his wife due to her having male co-workers'. Eli Pereg, 49, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to poison his wife, who has undergone rehabilitation since.

The woman claims that he made her drink tea that contained sleeping pills, and their children later discovered her with a glass of bleach next to her bed. "He became pathologically jealous, but I didn't see it coming," she states.

The incident occurred late last month, the Jerusalem male was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill his wife by poisoning her, allegedly because she had male co-workers'. Police discovered incriminating search results on the mobile phone of Eli Pereg, 49.

Following the lifting of a gag order further details of the case were released. Pereg's significant other, known as A., claimed her husband had infused her by injecting her with the poisonous substance "out of jealousy and obsessiveness," after coming to the conclusion she was "working with men."

"I was taking care of our granddaughter, and afterward he made me tea, however there were dozing pills in it," A. recalled the events of that evening, saying, "He told my daughter-in-law to take my granddaughter. I felt tired."

"After we went to bed, I lost consciousness, and the kids later discovered me convulsing with a bleach glass next to the bed. My body puffed up. My daughter claims that I yelled, 'Eli, Eli.' I thought it was him who did it."

A. informed Ynet that she is undergoing rehabilitation as a result of the poison injection's damage to her spinal cord. She stated, "I couldn't believe he could do such a thing." "Who might accept that I could nod off with my own husband, and he would infuse poison into my back? Who would consider doing such a thing? There were no warning signs of this happening."

"I want to set her on fire," he wrote to his friend. She added that she needed to go through spinal surgery and was hospitalized for seven days in the neurosurgical facility at Hadassah Clinical Centre. "Since I began working at the district, he turned out to be obsessively envious," A. described, underscoring that she didn't really accept that her significant other was able to do such a demonstration.

"I didn't see this occurrence; I didn't see it coming, and I surely didn't figure I would fall asleep and be betrayed." At a meeting held last month at the Jerusalem Justice's Court, a police delegate said that few reports had been gotten throughout the course of recent months from different sources, charging episodes of assault between the couple.

A representative states "There is suspicion that the respondent infused his wife with the substance tracked down in her body, and this theory further emerged when a specialist at the medical clinic saw a hematoma (bruise) on her body."

Police are likely to request an extension of Pereg's detention after he was repeatedly remanded in custody. Pereg's public defender says "My client denies all the allegations against him."

Adv. Daniel Shimshilashvili stated, "My client maintains his innocence despite extensive investigations and severe violations of his fundamental rights while detained. My client's name will eventually be cleared, and he will soon be released from detention, I am confident."
