Rahat: A Police Officer Seized a Cache of Weapons Inside a Pizzeria

The activity is carried out with the aim of preventing the escalation of various criminal conflicts in the sector, at a time when fighting is going on in the southern region.

As part of the activity yesterday morning, police officers from the Rahat station of the Negev region, in cooperation with the soldiers of the Yoav unit and with the assistance of the district dog unit, raided a complex of buildings in the industrial area of ​​the city of Rahat. In the raid, 2 improvised explosive devices were located, including 4 pipe bombs and wireless operating systems, which are suspected to be intended for use by criminal elements as part of criminal conflicts between families in the sector. As part of the activity, 2 residents of the area were arrested for questioning, and depending on the evidence that will be collected against them, they will be brought to a hearing today at the Magistrate's Court in Be'er Sheva to discuss the request to extend their detention.

Today, in a raid carried out on Compound 4 in the city of Rahat, police officers of the Rahat station and soldiers of the southern branch of the Internal Security Brigade located an M16 weapon. Three suspects, residents of the place, were arrested on suspicion of possessing illegal weapons, and approximately 200,000 NIS was seized in their possession.

In the meantime, and as part of the operational activity carried out in the last few days in the city of Rahat, the commander of the southern district, Superintendent Amir Cohen, signed an administrative closure order for 30 days against the "Napoli Pizza" business in the city, after a search was carried out last week at the place by Rahat police station officers in cooperation with fighters of the southern branch of the Internal Security Division of the Border Police in which they found 2 guns, ammunition and cartridges there.

As part of the activity, the owner of the business was arrested and his detention was extended by the Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court.

During an activity to locate weapons in the Alatraash area, police officers of the towns station of the Negev region, in cooperation with the soldiers of the Internal Security Division of the South and North Border Guard, located a training grenade and a Carlo-type weapon. In the settlement of Hura, police forces seized a gun, cartridges and ammunition on a local resident. The suspect was detained for questioning at the town station, and depending on the evidence that will be collected against him, he will be brought to a hearing today at the Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court with a request to extend his detention.

All the weapons were checked and neutralized by Israel Police sappers and at the end of the treatment they were transferred to the investigative unit for further care.
