Experts in Israel are divided on how much AI increases the threat of paralyzing or economically damaging cyber attacks from hostile parties.

Gavi Portnoy, head of the National Cyber Directorate, published a report months ago showing a threefold increase in cyber attacks on Israel systems, but experts are reportedly divided on how much AI has increased this threat, according to Globes.

Moshe Lipsker, CEO of the Imperva security company, believes that AI does increase the risk of cyber attacks, since it makes such attacks easier by doing most of the attacker's work for them, thus increasing the number of attacks on various crucial systems.

Segev Moyal, CEO of Profero, disagrees, saying that while a lot of attention is on AI, most of the recent attacks have been more conventional factor authorization, IT-based, and malware based attacks.

Either way, cyber attacks are a serious problem for major Israeli systems, causing around 12 billion NIS in damages per year.
