Google is updating its privacy tools. If you have an image circulating online without your consent, or if you want to know if your information is exposed on the internet, Google's new announcements are for you.
Google is releasing updates that will help users maintain their information and images under complete privacy. Some of the updates will first be available in the United States and will later be released in additional countries.
A tool that will alert about personal information online
Last year, Results About You was launched, accessible by clicking on the profile picture, allowing users to request the removal of search results containing personal information such as phone numbers, home addresses, or email addresses directly from the Google application.
Now, the tool has been updated and significantly improved. Starting with this update, the tool will work autonomously, and users will receive notifications from Google if any of their contact details are found online, enabling them to request their removal.
However, Google is also updating its policy regarding the removal of intimate images or explicit content that was posted without the user's consent. Users will be able to submit a request on a dedicated page to remove intimate content or images where they appear without their permission.
The "Safe Search" Blurring Tool
Another tool introduced by Google is the blurring tool. When you activate the "Safe Search" option, blurring will appear by default over images containing violent or graphic content in the search results.
Parents or school administrators will have the option to lock the "Safe Search" setting, and parental controls will be easier to manage by searching for "parental controls," which will provide information about managing parental controls.
