Will Man City midfielder Rodri win the 2024 Ballon d'Or? Here's what to know

Real Madrid is so sure that Vinicius Jr. isn't going to win that he won't even be in attendance at the ceremony.

Real Madrid anticipates that Manchester City will emerge victorious at the 2024 Ballon d’Or event, in Paris and that Rodri will secure the accolade. Although everyone expected Vinicius Jr. from Real Madrid to clinch the award this time , the club now believes that he won't win.

As a result, Vinicius will not attend the event and neither will Lionel Messi.

Vinicius shared his feelings of letdown for not being nominated during an interview, with ESPN saying " I felt disappointed; I believe I should have been included in the list of 30 players despite appreciating the talents of those who made it."

Vinnie Jr. scored an impressive 24 goals in matches and also played a role in Real Madrid's La Liga victory and their 15th Champions League win; however this achievement did not garner the necessary votes to get on the list of 'top 30'.

Emilio Butragueno, from Madrid will not be attending the awards show either, which means that there is representation from the club at the event.

If Rodri wins, it will be the first time that a Premier League player has claimed the Ballon d’Or since Cristiano Ronaldo secured his triumph in 2008 during his tenure at Man U.

It looks like Rodri is on track to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or award and it will be interesting to see if he can reach the level of legends such as Messi and Ronaldo.
