A year before the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Israeli delegation is currently participating in the most prestigious judo tournament in the world, the Masters Tournament, which is taking place this time in Hungary. One of Israel's great Olympic hopes is Inbar Lanir, who, after winning the world championship two months ago, yesterday (Sunday) added a gold medal to her collection in the Masters Tournament. Peter Paltchik lost in the final and won the silver medal, while Raz Hershko faced disappointment with a surprising elimination in the round of 16.

Lanir, the world champion in the 78 kg weight category, reached the final after 12 consecutive victories, including winning the semifinal with an ippon after eight seconds against Jung-Yeon Lee from South Korea. In the final as well, she defeated the French competitor Malonga with a quick ippon after 58 seconds. On the other hand, Peter Paltchik, who fought half an hour later, lost in a rapid ippon and won the silver medal.

Before Paris 24 three medals for Israel: gold, silver and bronze

On her way to the final, Lanir faced and defeated Boudgie from France in the second round, then Draaks from the Netherlands. As mentioned earlier, in the semifinal, she won against Lee from Korea. Paltchik, in the first round, triumphed over Gantugs of Mongolia, in the round of 16 against Miklos of Hungary, in the quarterfinal against Kyle Reyes from Canada, and in the semifinal against Zaalishvili from Georgia.

Peter Paltchik became a father

As known, the silver medalist Peter Palchik, the medal-winning Olympic judoka, became a father a few months ago. Paltchik is one of Israel's favorite Olympic athletes who managed to move many when he presented the Olympic bronze medal to his mother Larissa.

In addition to being an international standard judoka, Paltchik was chosen to model for the clothing brand Delta. Paltchik shared a photo from the delivery room and wrote: "One of the most amazing and exciting days in our lives, we became parents! From a couple to a big family. In moments like these you realize how nothing in life is to be taken for granted." As remembered, the couple got married in 2016 and after many attempts to have children, today the happy news was announced.
