The war in the south. Former Minister of Science, Yizhar Shai, announced this evening that his son, Yaron, is one of the fallen in the battle with terrorists in Kerem Shalom.
"With great sorrow, we announce that our son, Yaron, z"l, fell yesterday in combat with the terrorists who entered Israeli territory," announced Shai, who served in the Netanyahu-Gantz government as Minister of Science and currently serves as the chairman of the Darkenu movement.
The estimate is that there are now more than 700 casualties, including civilians, soldiers, and members of security forces. This afternoon, the Ministry of Health reported that 2,156 injured individuals have been admitted to hospitals, including: 20 in critical condition, 338 in serious condition, 421 in moderate condition, 1052 with minor injuries, 49 suffering from shock, and 167 under medical evaluation.
In addition to these numbers, there are approximately 150 more individuals who are currently held captive by Hamas. Some of them are the bodies of soldiers, while others are living soldiers who have been transferred to the Gaza Strip. Among the captives, there are also civilians, including women and children.
