An explosion at a fuel facility in the conflict zone between Armenia and Azerbaijan has led to hundreds of casualties and at least dozens of fatalities.

According to local authorities, at least 300 people were rushed to hospitals in the area, with many in critical condition, and dozens lost their lives as a result of a significant explosion at a fuel depot in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The explosion follows Armenia's surrender in the recent conflict that unfolded in the neighboring region opposite Azerbaijan. During the massive exodus of Armenians from the Nagorno-Karabakh region into Armenia itself, the government reported that already ten percent of the Armenian population in the area, originally numbering over 120,000 people, fled into Armenia.

The reasons for the explosion are still unclear, but fuel stations have been operating under high demand in recent days due to the evacuation of Armenian civilians from the area. Additionally, experts suspect that a lack of fuel in the region over the past few months may have affected the infrastructure of the facility, which had remained empty until recently.
