Orna Barbivai, the candidate for mayor of Tel Aviv on behalf of Yesh Atid, issued an unusual statement this morning (Tuesday) following the harassment by left-wing activists of worshipers in Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv.
In an interview she gave to Rino Zror of GLZ, she referred to the difficult events and did not condemn the attack, but rather attacked the mayor Ron Huldai who, in her opinion, did not enforce the ruling of the High Court regarding separation in the place.
Afterward, in her reference to the Torah Nucleus (Garin Torani) in the city, she said: "Every Tel Avivian should be asked how it happened that in the bastion of liberalism, there is a scope of nuclei that have taken root and come from outside with agendas that determine who is Jewish."
Anyone who does not meet the standards I will lead as a liberal city will not be here. There will only be people here who will understand that events with gender separation will not be here. There will be no such situation."
Huldai refused to condemn the harassment: "The character of the city cannot be changed"
As mentioned, these difficult things come after, during the Yom Kippur prayers, left-wing protesters came to the annual prayer area in Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv and 'blew up' the prayer events after 'partitions' of Israeli flags were erected between the worshipers. Mayor Ron Huldai also refused to condemn the attack and in an interview he gave today he said: "I do not condemn the violence - because there was no violence. The public in the State of Israel has woken up, and we cannot change the character of the city."
