A fire broke out in the Kissufim Forest of the KKL-JNF today (Friday), near the Kissufim settlement's border, most likely as a result of an incendiary balloon launched from the Gaza Strip. The last known incident of incendiary balloons was in 2021 when three simultaneous fires erupted in the area of Kibbutz Nir Am within the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid criticized the government, saying, "This picture reflects the loss of deterrence, the ongoing disrespect by the right-wing government for the south, the government of abandonment. For over two years, there have been no explosive balloons from Gaza, but in our government, they harvest the wheat; it didn't go up in flames."

"Due to their preoccupation with themselves, they have forgotten that there are citizens here. Complete loss of control, and those who pay the price - it's all of us. In 2024, we send this government home."
