Foreign Minister Eli Cohen met last night (Wednesday) with the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to mark the three-year anniversary since the signing of the peace agreement between the two countries as part of the Abraham Accords.
"We signed more than 40 agreements in 3 years"
The ministers discussed the achievements made thus far and the mutual interests in regional security and the promotion of economic projects through bilateral and international cooperation. At the end of the meeting, Minister Cohen said, "In the three years since the signing of the Abraham Accords, relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates have grown deeper and have yielded new achievements, serving as a model for peace that promotes regional prosperity and stability."
The minister further emphasized and enumerated the achievements since the signing of the historic peace agreement: "We have signed more than 40 agreements with the United Arab Emirates, and we continue to expand our relations, reaching new heights in tourism, trade, and joint regional projects."
Cohen continued and emphasized the importance of the agreements: "The free trade agreement will lead to a significant expansion of trade volume and the establishment of connections between companies in both countries. I also discussed with my Emirati counterpart the implementation of groundbreaking projects in the Middle East, in which land connectivity will advance the entire Middle East region."
The Emirati Foreign Minister to Cohen: "Looking forward to meeting you in Dubai"
In response, the Emirati Foreign Minister stated that he looks forward to meeting Minister Cohen in Dubai during the COP event at the end of November. He also expressed appreciation for the extensive Israeli participation in the event, which reflects the strong relations between the countries and the importance that both Israel and the United Arab Emirates place on the climate issue. Foreign Minister Eli Cohen invited his counterpart to visit Israel soon.
