Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been summoned to testify before members of the State Commission of Inquiry into the submarine affair.

For the first time since the State Commission to Investigate the Vessel Matter began, or in its public name the Commission of Inquiry into the Submarines Case (Case 3000), the Commission of Inquiry summoned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself to provide testimony before the committee members.

The committee was established during the previous government, under the promotion of the then Minister of Defense Benny Gantz, with the aim of investigating the claims of an improper procedure and corruption surrounding the procedure of purchasing the new navy submarines, which are entering service these days.

The committee is chaired by retired President of the Supreme Court, Justice Asher Grunis, and in addition to him, four other committee members, including Prof. Karnit Flug, former governor of the Bank of Israel, former head of the Atomic Energy Committee Gideon Frank, Lt. Col. Prof. Jacob Bortman and another retired judge, Zvi Zylbertal.
