This evening (Thursday - Israel) there was a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the first conversation between them since Netanyahu's government was sworn in at the end of December 2022.

After the conversation, Zelenskyy posted on his Telegram account: "It is important that Israel supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country."

He also said that they discussed possible ways to support Ukraine from Israel's side in resisting the invasion of Russia.

Zelenskyy says that Netanyahu raised the issue of the increasing number of refusals of Ukrainian citizens to enter Israel as part of the visa-free procedure between the two countries and emphasized the need to correct this situation.

He added that in view of the approaching Jewish New Year - Rosh Hashanah - and the expected mass arrival of the Hasidic pilgrims to Uman, their security issues and their response to possible challenges were discussed.

According to the wording of the announcement from the Prime Minister's office: "The two leaders spoke about the continuation of Israeli aid to Ukraine, including to refugees from Ukraine staying in Israel, and also about the continuation of promoting aid in the development and promotion of civil defense systems."

They also noted that "the Prime Minister also raised the need to ensure as much as possible the arrival of worshipers to Uman this year in order to ensure freedom of worship."
