Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met today (Monday) with the recruits designated for the positions of battalion liaison officers, logistics officers, infantry instructors, routine security measures drivers and military policemen at the reception and sorting base at the Tel Hashomer camp. At the beginning of his visit, the Prime Minister received an overview of the recruitment data and trends and the changes in the selection process for the IDF, which enable equal opportunities and the full utilization of the abilities of all those enlisting in their military service.
Afterwards, Netanyahu had a conversation with the new recruits. He answered questions about service in the IDF, economy and innovation. From there he continued to the military chain, and met the recruits during the distribution of the equipment, just before they put on their uniforms. In addition, he joined a lunch with the new recruits, heard from them about the positions they are destined for, and shared with them his past experiences from his service as an officer in General Staff patrol.
"We are facing enormous changes. One change that will not change, I tell you, is our need to protect ourselves," Prime Minister Netanyahu shared with the recruits. "The world, what to do, is sometimes cruel. We live in a place where the weak do not survive - the strong survive. The strong not only prevents wars and wins them - but also succeeds in bringing others to make alliances and peace with him."
"This is what happened to the State of Israel. The State of Israel was a small grain here, barely able to defend itself 75 years ago. Today we are already a rising factor, even a superpower in the world. It depends on one thing, without it there is nothing - it depends on the IDF. If there is a strong IDF - there is a strong country, and if there is a strong country - the future is open to everyone.
