A 9-month-old infant was brought to a local clinic in Kseifa this morning (Sunday) after apparently being stung by a scorpion. Paramedics and medics from Magen David Adom provided her with medical treatment and transferred her to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva, as her condition is serious and she is unresponsive.

The current incident is the latest in a series of scorpion stings that have been reported throughout the country in recent weeks. At the Galilee Medical Center, it was reported that 3 children were brought to the hospital last week after being stung by scorpions – all of them of the black scorpion species.

According to the statement from the medical center, last Thursday an 11-year-old child from the village of Hosen was brought in after being stung on his leg following some time spent outside his home. Additionally, just before that, last Monday, an 8-year-old child from Jadeidi-Makr was brought in independently after being stung on his hands by two black scorpions. His parents reported that he was playing in the backyard and suddenly felt pain.

In another case, an 11-year-old girl from Kibbutz Eilon was brought in after being stung on her leg while she was at home. All three children received treatment in the pediatric unit, where they were kept under observation for a few hours and then discharged to their homes. As mentioned, all of the stings were from black scorpions, which are quite common in Israel, and their stings are generally not fatal or particularly severe.
