Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, filed a formal complaint against Lebanon to the UN Security Council, and called for imposing immediate action on the Lebanese government and UNIFIL forces to prevent the continuation of Hezbollah's military infrastructure construction on the northern border.

The complaint comes following numerous provocations and threats by Hezbollah against the IDF in the past month. Last week, several Hezbollah operatives crossed the UNIFIL demarcation line and raised flags near the village of Ghajar in addition to armed Hezbollah members touring close to the fence, on the Lebanese side, a few days prior.

Furthermore, "Srugim" published a document authored by a soldier who completed his reserve duty in the northern border in recent months, which points to a chain of deficiencies and flaws in the positions near the fence. His conclusion is that in the event of an attack by Hezbollah, the positions are not adequately prepared to meet the threat.

In the letter, Erdan detailed Hezbollah's recent provocations on the border, which constitute a blatant violation of Resolution 1701. These provocations include border crossings by infiltrators, including a Lebanese parliament member, and the establishment of military positions under the false guise of an organization called "Green Without Borders."

Erdan clarified to the Council that the tension on the northern border is high, unlike anything seen in many years. He emphasized that if there is no immediate action by the Lebanese government and UNIFIL forces against the continued deterioration on the border, "the consequences could be destructive and lead to disaster."
