At least 40 people were killed, and 200 others were injured in a terrorist attack that occurred yesterday (Sunday) at a political rally in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan. Local authorities stated that the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for further medical treatment.

According to reports, the attack occurred at a political rally of the extremist "Jamaat-ul-Ahrar" party when a powerful explosion rocked the hall where the rally was being held. The police later confirmed that it was a suicide bombing, during which the perpetrator activated an explosive belt attached to his body.

The party's leader, religious figure Maulana Fazlur Rehman, was not present at the rally. However, local media reported that one of the casualties was the regional leader of the party, Maulana Ziaullah. It was also mentioned that several senators and parliament members were present at the rally but managed to escape the scene unharmed.

At this stage, it is not known who is behind the deadly attack, but many believe that the local branch of ISIS is responsible, as members of the terrorist organization have carried out attacks targeting party members in the past. In recent months, there has been a significant increase in terrorist attacks in the region following the collapse of the ceasefire between the Pakistani Taliban and the government in Islamabad. It should be noted that the Pakistani Taliban is allied with the Taliban ruling in Afghanistan, but operates separately from them.
