Former Minister of Justice, Ayelet Shaked, criticizes the Supreme Court's decision to hold a hearing on Basic-Law: The Government. In a tweet on her Twitter page, she wrote: "There is no legal reason for the Supreme Court to intervene in Basic-Law: The Government. One can argue about logic and reasoning, but it is absurd to claim that the court should intervene without any legal basis."

Shaked also said: "Beyond the fact that there is no harm or contradiction, the Supreme Court lacks any authority to interfere with fundamental laws. In the past, even the legal advice to the government took this for granted."

As reported last week, the judges of the Supreme Court asked the Attorney General for the Government to clarify her position on the conflict of interest issue concerning Netanyahu until August 20th. The actual hearing is scheduled for September 12th, when the panel of judges, including President Esther Hayut, Uzi Fogelman, and Yitzhak Amit, will deliberate on the appeal.

In response to the Supreme Court's decision, the Attorney General for the Government, Gali Baharav-Miara, on behalf of the state, stated that the law should be canceled. According to her, the law was used to harm the authority of the Knesset in order to improve the personal legal situation of the Prime Minister and allow him to act contrary to the court's ruling.
