Iranian sources speaking to Sky News Arabic said that Iran's planned retaliation against Israel for its air strike a few weeks ago has been called off following Donald Trump's re-election.

Following Israel's air strike against Iran, the Islamic Republic had made repeated threats about retaliating against it, either from Iranian soil or via one or more of its proxy forces spread throughout the region.

One particular potential launching pad for a strike was Iraq. The Iraqi Prime Minister claimed to have been working hard to prevent such a strike from happening to avoid Israeli retaliation, and both Israel and the United States warned Iraq against allowing an attack from its soil.

Iran was never particularly clear about when and how the strike would come, always saying that it will "certainly" come at a time and from a place of Iran's choosing.
