President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly set to tap South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as his Secretary of Homeland Security, according to two sources speaking to CNN.

Noem, a staunch Trump ally once seen as a potential running mate, would take on the role leading the department responsible for securing U.S. borders—one of Trump’s central campaign pledges.

While no formal announcement has been made, Noem’s support for strong ties with allies like Israel has been evident.

Marking the anniversary of the October 7th attacks, she posted on Instagram, “One year ago today, Israel was devastated by a barbaric invasion of their God-given homeland... In South Dakota, we will continue to support our most important friend and strategic ally: Israel.”

As Secretary of Homeland Security, Noem would oversee U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, pivotal agencies in border protection and immigration control.

She would also be coordinating closely with Trump’s incoming “border czar” Tom Homan and Stephen Miller, appointed as White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, with a special focus on immigration initiatives.
