King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands spoke with President Yitzhak Herzog today (Friday), saying that "we failed the Jewish community of the Netherlands during World War II, and last night we failed again" in stopping the Amsterdam pogrom.

President Herzog stressed the need for "decisive action against violence and antisemitism, and assistance in the immediate evacuation of Israelis."

Earlier this morning, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof updated Herzog on all actions being taken, adding his condemnation of the pogrom. He told Herzog that Holland was doing everything it could to protect Israelis and ensure their safe return home.
