The homicide occurred in Algeria several weeks ago, but was concealed by authorities until recently. The Daily Mail states that a Swiss tourist was killed by a knife-wielding attacker who yelled 'Allahu Akbar' while cutting her throat in an Algerian cafe in front of her scared children.

The unnamed Swiss woman passed away on October 11 in Djanet, a vacation spot in southern Algeria, following an assault while she was seated on the terrace of the Scanner cafe.

The perpetrator was identified as a man from Algeria. He slit the woman's throat, and despite being quickly taken to the hospital, she passed away shortly afterwards due to excessive bleeding.

The man reportedly shouted 'Allahu Akbar' and 'Long live Palestine' during the attack, according to a local news anchor. He escaped from the location and was caught days later following a thorough search operation. Local authorities delayed reporting the attack for weeks in order to boost tourism in the area. The Swiss government has assumed responsibility for the children of the woman and her accompanying friend.
