Kamala Harris, Weapons shipment hold, Israel at war

Harris Admits: "I Fully Supported Halting Bomb Shipments to Israel"

U.S. Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris acknowledged in an interview with an American network that she fully supported halting arms shipments to Israel as leverage on the government to stop the war and facilitate a hostage deal.

In the interview, Harris stated, "We need to make this deal happen immediately; that is my position. For example, I can say that one thing I acted on and fully support is the decision to block the shipment of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel. This allowed us a leverage point that we utilized."

Harris added, "I have had discussions with President Biden and Prime Minister Netanyahu, and we explained very clearly that this deal needs to happen, and the war needs to end as soon as possible." She concluded by clarifying, "Let me be very clear: I support Israel's right to defend itself, and I support the Palestinians' need for dignity, self-determination, and security moving forward, but right now what is urgent is the hostages."

In May, reports indicated that President Biden was delaying the transfer of thousands of weapons to Israel, valued at $260 million, as internal pressure on the Israeli government. Prime Minister Netanyahu released a video addressing President Biden and the American people, requesting the shipment to save lives.
