Answering questions from Iran International today (Thursday), Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville said that Iran delivering missiles to Russia was no different than the US delivering long-range weapons to Ukraine.
Tuberville further expressed his displeasure at the United States allowing Ukraine to conduct deep strikes into Russia, something which Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has been requesting for some time, and which the Biden administration has reportedly agreed to even if they will not admit it publicly.
Tuberville said that "I can’t believe we are allowing Zelensky to shoot into Russia. It makes no sense. All we are going to do is escalate the war. We need to be negotiating out of the war. We don’t need to be fighting...we’ve got two wars going on at one time. American people—taxpayers—can’t afford it."
Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, who also spoke to Iran International, said that "there needs to be a response" to Iran's missile delivery but that it could be "overhyped" and backfire.
Murphy also hit Donald Trump and the GOP for going wobbly on Ukraine: "What are they going to do in the face of Iran supplying more weapons to Russia,” he asked, “are they going to stand up to Donald Trump, who just telegraphed to the entire world that he is rooting for Russia to win?"
