Iran builds missiles while its people can't afford bread - literally

The Iranian government recently admitted an increase in a common form of bread as inflation and cost of living is forcing large swathes of the population to struggle.

The Iranian government has officially admitted an increase in the price of bread by 40 to 66%, with more increases expected down the road, according to a report by Iran International.

Cost of living and inflation have been a major source of worry for ordinary Iranians for months now, with one poll showing Iranians above 51 putting inflation and high prices (81.9%), unemployment (47.9%) as among the most serious challenges the country faces.

Meanwhile, the Iranian government faces a serious dilemma in terms of fuel rationing, as allowing an increase in price might allow for more people to get fuel but would increase social unrest, while keeping rationing at current levels means many cannot get fuel at all.

All this is taking place while Iran spends very large sums of on weaponry and on subsidizing terrorist organizations around the region, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthi forces in Yemen.
