The United Nations (UN) Security Council is set to convene this Wednesday for the first time to address the ongoing crisis involving hostages in Gaza. This historic meeting comes in response to an urgent appeal from Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, following the brutal murder of six hostages.

Ambassador Danon’s impassioned address prompted the United States, the United Kingdom, and France to formally request a Security Council meeting. This session marks the first official discussion by the Council on the hostage situation since the events of October 7.

"After 11 months since the kidnapping of hundreds of innocent civilians, it is certainly time for the Security Council to address this issue," Ambassador Danon stated, expressing gratitude to the representatives of the United States, Great Britain, and France for their efforts in convening the meeting.

Ambassador Danon further emphasized the urgency of the situation, urging the Security Council to take a firm stand: "The Security Council must condemn the terrorist organization Hamas and demand the immediate release of the abductees."

The upcoming meeting is expected to shine a spotlight on the plight of the hostages and the international community's response to this ongoing humanitarian crisis.
