EU appears to shift towards renewing relations with Syria due to immigration woes

Increasing political criticism over non-deportation of rejected asylum seekers from Syria is leading Europe to consider recognizing a leader it holds responsible for mass human suffering.

European countries appear to be shifting towards renewing relations with Bashar Assad's Syria in the hope of sending rejected asylum seekers back home, according to a report by DW.

A recent terrorist attack by an ISIS terrorist who was also a rejected asylum seeker from Syria highlighted Europe's struggles with its immigration and asylum policy, as very large numbers of people continue to reside in Europe even when their asylum application is rejected.

Nevertheless, European distaste at working with Assad, who is held responsible for the mass civilian suffering of the decade long civil war is likely to put off such recognition far into the future.
