Dozens of Muslim delegates and their allies, frustrated by U.S. support for Israel's military actions in Gaza, are pushing for significant changes to the Democratic platform, including a call for an arms embargo, as they prepare to make their voices heard at the party's national convention in Chicago this week.

The group, identifying as "Delegates Against Genocide," intends to exercise their freedom of speech during key events at the four-day Democratic National Convention, where Vice President Kamala Harris is set to be formally nominated as the party's candidate for the November 5th election against Republican former President Donald Trump.

While organizers have not disclosed specific plans, they have encouraged supporters to wear Palestinian keffiyehs, carry Palestinian flags, and advocate for platform amendments, with some delegates expected to speak out on the convention floor.

On Sunday night, a group of about 1,000 pro-Palestinian protesters marched through downtown Chicago, chanting "Shut down the DNC." President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak on Monday, with Harris set to address the convention on Thursday.
