Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) secured the Democratic nomination for the House of Representatives in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District, overcoming multiple primary challengers, NBC News reported.
Omar defeated former Minneapolis City Councilman Don Samuels, who had come within 2 percentage points of her in the 2022 primary, along with two other contenders.
Omar, a prominent member of the "Squad," is known for her anti-Israel stances and for advocating that the Biden administration condition U.S. aid to Israel.
Her win comes on the heels of recent primary losses for two other "Squad" members. Last week, Rep. Cori Bush lost her Missouri primary to challenger Wesley Bell, and in late June, Jamaal Bowman was defeated in New York by Westchester County Executive George Latimer.
