Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a message to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to avoid harming Israeli civilians in its retaliation for the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, according to Reuters.

The Russian plea for restraint was conveyed via Sergei Shoigu, a senior defense ally of President Putin, who visited Iran yesterday (Monday) around the same time as CENTCOM commander Mike Kurilla visited Israel to work on preparing a defense against Iran's planned retaliation, whose timing and nature remains unknown.
