Meanwhile, Tehran continues to investigate the security breach that enabled the assassination to occur within a key Revolutionary Guards stronghold.
Iranian prosecutors announced on Saturday that they have launched a formal investigation into Haniyeh’s killing, which occurred hours after Hezbollah Chief of Staff Fuad Shukr was killed in Beirut. These incidents follow the massacre of 12 children at a soccer field in Majdal Shams.
